We are looking for an Advanced Guitar Instructor to join our team at our School of Rock Proser/Denton location.

Role Summary

As an Advanced Guitar Instructor, you will be responsible for taking our intermediate and upper-level students to the next stage of their musical journey. You will deliver high-level private lessons, direct complex ensemble rehearsals, and mentor students through challenging performance material.

The ideal candidate positively embodies the spirit of rock and roll, possesses exceptional technical mastery, and understands how to break down complex musical concepts into inspiring, actionable lessons.

Key Responsibilities

Advanced Music Instruction

  • High-Level Guitar Pedagogy: Teach advanced guitar techniques including swept/alternate picking, extended chord voicings, advanced modes/scales, improvisation, fingerstyle, and genre-specific stylings (Prog, Jazz-Fusion, Metal, Classic Rock, Blues, etc.).

  • Performance & Rehearsal Leadership: Direct advanced student ensemble rehearsals, arrange intricate multi-guitar parts, and prepare students for main-stage performances.

  • Comprehensive Theory & Fundamentals: Go beyond teaching songs by embedding advanced music theory, ear training, rhythm dynamics, and sight-reading/charts into regular instruction.

  • Customized Curriculum: Build thoughtful, tailored lesson plans designed to overcome specific technical bottlenecks for developing musicians.

Customer Connection & Mentorship

  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, technical milestones, and long-term goals.

  • Serve as a visible, engaging mentor in the school to build a supportive community for advanced players.

  • Assist with rehearsal direction, equipment setup/basic gear maintenance, and school events during downtime.

  • Adhere strictly to the School of Rock Code of Conduct, safety policies, and child monitoring/supervision guidelines.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional music performance and/or advanced music instruction experience.

  • Technical Mastery: Exceptional proficiency in lead and rhythm guitar across diverse genres, gear/tone setup, and advanced music theory.

  • Education: Formal music degree (Performance, Composition, or Music Education) or equivalent professional industry experience required.

  • Pedagogical Skill: Demonstrated ability to teach advanced techniques, lead complex group rehearsals, and adapt methods to various learning styles.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, patience, strong problem-solving skills, and a positive, enthusiastic demeanor under pressure.

  • Passion: A genuine passion for mentoring the next generation of musicians!

Compensation: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
